DEPARTMENT/SCHOOL: Academic Services

JOB TITLE: Credibility Officer

SALARY & HOURS: Band 2, £25,290

Mon – Fri 9.00am – 5.00pm. Onsite - 35 hours per week

The Academic Services department is the cornerstone of the University. It provides essential and valuable support to both academic and student services and the Academic departments, helping the University to function in the most efficient and productive way, ensuring that the students’ experience is second to none.

We are seeking a Credibility Officer to support its Student Visa Compliance function and responsibilities as a UK Student Visa Sponsor.

Working alongside Visa Compliance Officers and in close collaboration with Admissions and Faculty teams, the role supports the assessment of international applicants’ credibility and suitability for sponsorship under the Student Route. The post sits between Admissions and Visa Compliance and focuses on administrative, compliance and policy-related support rather than visa decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support credibility checks for international applicants prior to CAS issuance.
  • Track documentation and monitor applications to support compliant CAS issuance.
  • Maintain accurate, well-organised student visa files to ensure audit readiness.
  • Undertake routine compliance checks, spot audits and monitoring of sponsored students, including attendance.
  • Assist with maintaining and updating policies, procedures, guidance and communication templates.
  • Respond to routine queries from staff and applicants regarding University processes and UKVI rules.
  • Liaise with Admissions, Faculty and Operations colleagues to support efficient and compliant processes.
  • Support key student lifecycle activities, including induction, enrolment and graduation, which may involve occasional evening or weekend work.

Skills and Experience

  • Experience in a compliance, regulatory, or advisory role.
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures consistently.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage workload, meet deadlines and work under pressure.
  • High levels of discretion, integrity and reliability.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and electronic records systems.
  • Experience in Higher Education or student visa processes is desirable but not essential.

  • University bookshop with staff discount (Buckingham)
  • Free access to LinkedIn Learning courses
  • Free on-site parking
